Bill Mitchell has served as State Representative since 1999. He represents the 101st House District, which includes all or portions of the following counties: Champaign, DeWitt, Macon, McLean & Piatt.

In 2013, Representative Mitchell was honored to be appointed Assistant Republican Leader for the Illinois House Republican Caucus.

A life-long resident of Macon County, Bill Mitchell comes from a farm family. Bill was educated in Decatur schools and is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University, where he earned a B.A. in Political Science.

Representative Mitchell previously served on the Decatur City Council and was Decatur Mayor Pro Tem from 1997-1998. Bill is a former Macon County Republican Party Chairman.

Because Central Illinois is his home, Bill is deeply committed to improving our schools and infrastructure, attracting and retaining good-paying jobs for our working families, and ensuring seniors receive the assistance they need and deserve.

Representative Mitchell has been a strong voice on the issue of job creation. He has served as the Republican Spokesman for the House Bipartisan Job Creation Task Force and as Chairman of the House Republican Task Force on Rural Economic Development.
